The Islander Waffle Dials are back! This time, they are coming to you as a GMT, with Seiko’s NH34 automatic movement. This movement is a caller GMT and allows the wearer to track a second time zone, a very handy feature for travel, or simple for friends or business partners in other time zones.
The watch is built off the familiar SKX007 platform, and as such, all SKX007 parts are compatible. Featuring a 42mm case that is 14mm thick, the watch has every enhancement you could want in a GMT diver. First, there is a scratch resistant, double domed sapphire crystal with inner anti-reflective coating. A prominent screw-down crown is located at 3:00 on the case to ensure ease of use, and also to maintain 200 meters of water resistance. Super-LumiNova is used to maintain low light visibility.
A solid link, solid endlink bracelet that is sized with screws secures it to your wrist. The bracelets are female endinks, which mean they articulate at the case so you can find a great fit on many wrist sizes. And, for an Islander first, we have also given the watch a tool-less, on the fly, micro-adjust clasp. No need to fumble with a tool to move a pin around. Just pull back on the two tabs and 6 positions of micro positioning are available to you. The bracelet tapers from 22mm at the lug, to 18mm at the clasp.
It is a GMT, so the bezels are marked in a 24 hour scale, and the rehaut (chapter ring) also has a 24 hour scale, making it possible to track 3 time zones! The GMT hand is independently adjustable when the crown is pulled out to the first click. The GMT hand clicks into place at one-hour increments. The bezel turns in both directions and clicks into place.
